Metamask Users Stress On Wallet Bug, Dev Confirms Its Fixed
The users of Metamask, one of the most popular crypto wallet, have been stressing over a common bug in the past few days as the wallet keeps opening in a new tab automatically when Chrome browser is launched.
While Metamask is considered one of the most secure crypto wallets, users were confused on what went wrong with it as every time Chrome browser was launched, the Metamask pop-up was opened with a strange link in the URL bar. At first, it seem like user devices were fallen victim for any malware but as most people were complaining it later turn out be a bug in update, as confirmed by Metamask support.
The issue was also one of trending topic on Metamask subreddit in past week with several user asking if they are hacked or need to re-import wallet.

Several users were also asking question regarding the issue on Metamask’s Chrome Web Store review section where developers responded that Updating to the latest version 12.15 would resolve this bug.

The issue was also much talked about on X (Twitter) as well with users sharing that they are facing problems with Metamask wallet. With mentioning the official Metamask handle, one user cited “Why does the MM wallet open every time I open a new chrome window?? I even have it set to “when you click the extension” and it still happens.”
To which, Metamask handle replied that it’s a small bug and the fix will be out soon. Now, the latest version 12.15.1 is out and updating to this would fix the issue.
