Shardeum to Launch Mainnet on April 15, Airdrop Set for April 13

Shardeum, the world’s first Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM)-based autoscaling blockchain, is set to launch its highly anticipated mainnet on April 15, 2025.
This milestone comes just two days after the airdrop of its native token, SHM, which is scheduled for April 13.
In a recent announcement on its official X account, the protocol confirmed the launch date, marking the culmination of years of development and extensive testnet phases. According to Shardeum’s official website , the mainnet has undergone multiple testing stages, including Alphanet “Liberty,” Betanet “Sphinx,” and the incentivized testnet “Atomium.” Throughout these phases, the network has witnessed significant engagement, with over 171,000 validators running nodes and more than 81 million transactions processed.
Shardeum’s SHM airdrop registration is currently in its second phase, which opened on March 22 and will close on April 13. Users who complete their registration before April 14 will receive their airdropped tokens on June 13, 2025.
The project aims to address blockchain’s long-standing “scalability trilemma,” a concept introduced by Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin. This refers to the challenge of achieving decentralization, security, and scalability simultaneously—an issue that many blockchain networks struggle with.
Unlike traditional blockchains that often compromise scalability to maintain decentralization and security, Shardeum’s EVM-compatible mainnet is designed to be fully autoscaling. The protocol claims that as more nodes join the network, the number of transactions it can handle will scale accordingly, ensuring smooth and efficient processing.
A key component of this architecture is Dynamic State Sharding, which divides the network’s workload into smaller, manageable shards. This enables parallel transaction validation, reducing congestion and keeping gas fees at a minimum. By leveraging this approach, Shardeum aims to provide a highly efficient and scalable Layer 1 blockchain.
Shardeum places strong emphasis on decentralization and accessibility, allowing virtually anyone to operate a validator node. The network’s lightweight hardware requirements are designed to encourage participation, especially in emerging markets, further strengthening security through a widely distributed validator base.
As the mainnet launch draws near, the crypto community will be watching closely to see if Shardeum can deliver on its promise of an autoscaling blockchain capable of balancing scalability, security, and decentralization.
Similarly, The Movement Network Foundation has announced the successful launch of its Public Mainnet Beta, securing more than $250 million in Total Value Locked (TVL) from its Cornucopia program.
