Transak and Uranium.io partnership lowers tokenised uranium costs
Transak has teamed up with Uranium.io, the first blockchain-based uranium trading marketplace, to allow retail investors to purchase tokenised uranium with cryptocurrency or credit cards.
This partnership significantly reduces the minimum investment barrier, enabling purchases for as little as $10, compared to the previous requirement of approximately $4.2 million for over-the-counter trades.
Carlo de Luca Gabrielli, Transak's global director of sales, emphasised that this move democratises access to uranium as an investment asset class, which has historically been out of reach for average investors.
“Physical uranium as an investment asset class has been largely out of reach for the average retail investor. For the first time in history, anyone can legally invest in the commodity for as little as $10,” he stated.
The platform operates on the Tezos blockchain and aims to enhance accessibility and liquidity in the uranium trading market through tokenisation.
This integration is part of a broader trend toward real-world asset (RWA) tokenisation, which allows financial and tangible assets to be represented on a blockchain.
Gabrielli noted that 2025 is expected to be a fruitful year for tokenised assets due to blockchain technology's advantages, including increased liquidity and fractional ownership.
The uranium purchased through Uranium.io will be stored as physical Triuranium octoxide (U3O8) at a regulated depository managed by Cameco, a leading uranium provider.
Uranium.io launched in collaboration with Curzon Uranium and Archax, aiming to create a more efficient and transparent market for this valuable commodity.
With this partnership, Transak facilitates a seamless onboarding experience for users by supporting various payment methods like Google Pay and credit cards.
